TF Sport chasing overdue GT Open podium
Tuesday, July 19, 2016
An International GT Open victory is overdue for TF Sport, but there’s an opportunity to set the record straight on home turf as the series prepares to resume on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit (23-24 July).
Pole positions, podium finishes and race wins have been plentiful for TF Sport in the British GT Championship and Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup, but a victory in the 2016 International GT Open still eludes the team.
The year started with a sizeable crash in Estoril and a pair of disappointing results in the rain at Spa, then TF Sport was unfortunate to get caught up in somebody else’s crash while battling for a win in a drama-filled outing at Circuit Paul Ricard in Southern France.
The team’s Aston Martin V12 Vantage has been on the pace all season and its drivers, Turkey’s Salih Yoluc and Britain’s Euan Hankey, have been potent as a pair, showing performance that’s often unmatched by those around them.
This is why TF Sport returns to home shores seeking a podium position and the chance of going for victory - a repeat of the team’s achievement as Aston Martin Racing’s sole representative during the International GT Open’s visit to the ‘Home of British Motor Racing’ in 2014.
TF Sport Director, Tom Ferrier, said: “I think going into this weekend the team has been on a roll and we hope podiums continue coming. GT Open is hard because it's format is not strictly pro-am with its driver pairings. But last time out we fought for the podium so that has to be the aim again. It's nice having a home race in what has been a pretty full-on European tour.”
