Mexican win comes at a price for Aston Martin Racing at CoTA

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

With the team busily preparing their three cars for scrutineering today prior to the start of track proceedings for the Lone Star Le Mans 6 hours of the Circuit of the Americas, Aston Martin Racing have confirmed that the FIA have indeed issued both their Pro cars with an adjustment in performance.

As a result of their on-track performance and double podium in the Pro class last time out at Mexico just two weeks ago, both the #95 and #97 cars will have to decrease their engine air restrictor by 0.4mm, effectively annulling the performance break that the team received prior to that race. This move basically reduces the volume of air reaching the engine cylinders per revolution - thus reducing the effective power output from the engine.

No other Pro car received either a positive or negative performance adjustment

The actual effect of this action will be seen tomorrow (Thursday) when the first Free Practice sessions starts at 2.45pm local followed by the second session at 8.00pm local.
