Another mega race weekend coming up

Monday, June 05, 2017

Even as we approach the biggest race of the GT racing scene next weekend in France, this weekend offers its own Hors d'oeuvres to that event will a whole host of GT's competing around the world at various events. For #TeamAMR that includes………..

The British GT Championship hold their 6th round of the season at Silverstone with their flagship Silverstone 500 race. We were hoping that an old friend would be making an appearance at the event but they have since been advised that they are working on a possibly return at another round of the championship instead.

The Championship also announced last week that the winner of this event shall, for the first time receive the RAC Trophy first awarded by the BRDC back in 1932.

TF Sport will be hoping that despite the continuous work load being placed upon Jonny Adam by both the team and factory, that he and his fellow GT races within the team will be able to capitalise on their joint podium finish last time out at Snetterton two weeks ago. Likewise, with the GT3 entry from MacMillan who also secured a P3 finish in Race 1 at Snetterton.

In GT4 the #42 MacMillan pairing of Will Phillips and Jan Jonck will be hoping that they have passed through their almost season long period of bad luck and misfortune by securing a decent finish in the three hour enduro. The #62 Academy team however will be hoping for more complex things in that their plane from Austria won't be delayed as they made a mad dash on Sunday and swap between SRO series.

The race itself starts at 13.35 on Sunday

Speaking of which, the European GT4 Series Northern Cup hold their third round of the season at the Red Bull ring in Austria. With no official entry list yet issued we expect to see just the two full season entries from Academy Motorsport and Street Art Racing

This event features two, fifty minute races on both Saturday and Sunday and will be streamed live via the sites website.

Next up sees the annual pilgrimage of the GT Cup series for their double header at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Within this event we shall see Hud Motorsport return with their V12 Vantage GT3 hoping for yet more silverware from their 2017 endeavours.

Two further AMR Vantage GT4's will again contest the series in the GTA class, including last years GTA champion Chris Murphy.

Finally but by no means least, this weekend will see the Italian Solaris Motorsport team return to the GT Open series for their third round from the Paul Ricard circuit in southern France. Having already suffered two difficult rounds in both Portugal and Belgium the squad will be keeping everything crossed in the hope of achieving two decent finishes across the weekend.

These two races will again be streamed live via their website

Good luck to all.
