Early banker secures TF Sport's place in Super Pole

Friday, July 28, 2017

An early 'banker lap' from Jonny Adam last night secured the TF Sport prepared Oman Racing Team an entry into tonights SuperPole shootout to determine the positions of the front twenty in tomorrows Blancpain GT Series Spa 24H.

Having progressed through the preliminary sessions of the meeting - Bronze Driver test, Free Practice and then Pre Qualifying, the blue, white and gold #97 car driven by Ahmad Al Harthy, Jonny Adam, Salih Yoluc and Euan Hankey steadily improved there lap time around the 4.4 mile before Adam stepped forward for their first run within Qualifying itself.

Securing the advantage of new tyres and a next to empty track, Adam secured a 'banker lap' of 2:18:926 on only his second hot lap before retiring back to his pit box after only 15 minutes of running. The #97 maintained a top three position for much of the 75minute session, only being beaten by seven full Pro cars to claim P8 overall at the end of the session as issues with congestion, weather and accidents hindered others.

Bronze drivers Al Harthy and Yoluc then went on to each secured a competitive lap time during the compulsory Night Qualifying session that followed soon after, lapping to within 0.3 of a second from each other. Silver ranked driver Euan Hankey then went onto set a time (in a logical process) that was between the Bronze and that of Gold rated AMR factory driver Adam.

The three hot lap Super Pole shootout starts at 19.30hrs (local) and will of course be streamed live at LIVE
