Vulcan's first win on home soil?

Sunday, September 02, 2018

Having tasted the sweet smell of competitive track action at the Aston Martin Racing Festival at the Le Mans 24Hr back in June, one Aston Martin Vulcan came back for some more of the same at yesterdays Aston Martin Owners Club event from Snetterton.

The #6 Vulcan entry of Gleb Stepanov and Stephen Tomkins was one of three Vulcans entered by the AMR Performance Centre into the three yearly support event at the Circuit de La Sarthe where they finished a very credible seventh overall and second in class.

Again competing within the Invitational class under the watchful eye of the Stratton Motorsport team in the Aston Martin GT Challenge race it is slightly unsurprising to see that the #6 car saw off mainly GT4 class opposition to claim what is probably the Vulcan's first ever race win - certainly on home soil - although the gap was just over a minute to the nearest chasing car behind but that was apparently down to a power decrease due to noise controls in place at the event.

Shame we didn't go after all!
