Miedecke Motorsport switch to something new

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

A few weeks ago now we learned from George Miedecke that the family run team had received and accepted two offers for their entire Aston Martin Racing fleet as they looked to switch from GT racing into the Australian TA2 Series.

Selling both V12 Vanatge GT3 cars to a team in Europe and their GT4 to a national track day club, todays announcement from the team formally puts an end to their association with the AMR brand after a couple of season in the Australian GT Championship in both GT3 and GT4.

Indeed, the teams parting contribution to the Australian GT scene was their introduction and driver coaching for GT convertee Jeremy Gary in the car that he would later go on to take a commanding Championship win in the Australian GT GT4 Championship (with the help of Andrew Miedecke in the Endurance events).

With the costs of top flight GT3 racing forever increasing it is probably fair to say that the TA2 Series reflects a more cost effective form of racing for the father/son lead team. "We are racers first and foremost" said George Miedecke. "Whilst we loved GT racing, my PRO3 status meant that I could never race on my own" he added.

We wish them all the best!
