Just BSEM's Asia Sonic Racing at second round of China GT

Wednesday, May 01, 2019

Just two cars from the BSEM Asia Sonic Racing team will take part in this weeks second round of the 2019 China GT Championship from the Ningbo International circuit.

Despite that, this round will become a symbolic event for the team and Aston Martin Racing as they will compete with a new 2019 specification V8 turbo charged Vantage GT4 for the first time in the championship. Originally planned for the opening rounds in Malaysia, transportation delays meant that the car only arrived from the Prodrive factory just over a week ago.

Now having two days of wet and dry private testing under their belts the drivers of the new car at the circuit - David Pun and Yves Volte are feeling quietly confident of their first race together this year after team boss Stanley Yang deputised for Pun in Malaysia due to Puns re-arrangements at the F1 opening round in Australia.

Customer team - Kings Racing, who also fielded a 2016 specification Vantage GT4 in Malaysia are not present at this round after a disappointing show first time out.

Race 1 will be on Friday with Race 2 on Saturday.
