Ambitions and expectations as TF Sport chase WEC GTE Am titles

Tuesday, August 27, 2019

The Aston Martin Vantage GTE may be all new, but there is continuity and confidence at TF Sport as they prepare for their second season of the FIA World Endurance Championship with Salih Yoluc, Charlie Eastwood and Jonny Adam at the wheel of the #90 entry.

With four runner-up positions in the 2018-19 Super Season, TF Sport finished the campaign third in both the drivers’ and teams’ LMGTE Am championship. The challenge remains the same as they now look forward to competing and succeeding, starting this coming weekend with the Silverstone 4 Hours.

It’s been a busy summer of racing for the team challenging for titles in both Blancpain Endurance Cup and British GT, but TF Sport are fully prepared with the next-generation Vantage for the 4 Hours of Silverstone.

The recent test of the new GTE at Portimao went to plan with plenty of test mileage and data collection in preparation for round one. Denied a certain victory last year at Silverstone following a pitstop infringement and subsequent time penalty, the team head to its home circuit with a very clear objective; to claim their first WEC victory.

Tom Ferrier, TF Sport Director
“We’re hugely excited to be back in WEC for another season. It’s a fantastic championship and we learnt a lot in season one. We have a great new car, a great driver line-up and fantastic team of guys, so the aim is the make sure we are the sharp end from Silverstone onwards. We know how to win championships, so we just need to put it to practice on the world stage. Everyone cannot wait to get started!”

Salih Yoluç
“We had a good test in Portugal, so we’re really looking forward to the start of the season. I’m driving better than ever, and I know what Jonny and Charlie are capable of. It’s a long season, so finishing every round with good points is essential. Silverstone has been good to me in the past, so I’m aiming high and chasing that first WEC win.”

Jonny Adam
“I am really excited and upbeat ahead of the 2019/2020 WEC season with TF Sport in our new red Aston Martin Vantage GTE. The team have had great success of late and that's down to the detail and preparation they put into all their race programmes. The same goes for WEC, our preparation is going well with testing the new Vantage GTE and I am looking forward to joining a great line up in Salih and Charlie for what we believe can be an assault on the GTE AM World Championship.

“I only raced with TF Sport four times in WEC 2018/2019 but loved every minute and bagged two podiums out of the four races. The WEC calendar looks fantastic again but the two highlights for me are racing in Brazil for the first time, which will be a tick in the bucket list and going back to Le Mans 24 Hour with hopefully a real chance to fight for top honours there. Silverstone can't come fast enough!”

Charlie Eastwood
“We’ve had a good two-day test at Portimao in the new GTE, so we’re all really looking forward to the first race now. With four runner-up positions last year, it’s still a big goal for us to get that win, especially as we were so close so many times.

“Heading into our second season together, we have all learned a great deal, so putting it all together we feel we’ll hit the ground running compared to last year where it was an all-new experience. The driver line-up, team and new car are all very strong as a package, so we just ned to piece it all together to get the results we deserve.”
