Next stop Spa for the WEC - but what about last time.......... Part 1

Monday, April 06, 2020

With the FIA World Endurance Championship last week confirming their heavily revised 2020 timetable to cover off the expected time off caused through the global COVID-19 pandemic, it seems only right to feature last years round from Spa Francorchamps as the subject of our latest gallery.

Having started their track proceedings under warm blue Spring time skies, the race will be quickly remembered for the arrival of the (much forecasted) snow that threw all preparatory work up into the air for all the teams as the race quickly became a race for 'survival' with the remaining cars contesting what was supposed to be another six hour race under both treacherous and picture perfect conditions around its 7km circuit before efforts were abandoned soon before its intended finish.

In GTE, the Pro class was also the first race win for the #97 crew of local man Maxime Martin and Alex Lynn whilst in Am, the #90 TF Sport car of Salih Yoluc, Charlie Eastwood and Jonny Adam went onto finish P2 after having taken the class pole in the dry of Friday.

This years event has of course been delayed from its intended end of April date to the 15th August subject to the relaxation of travel restrictions, etc.

Fingers crossed!
