The first signs of Spring from FIA and ACO?

Friday, April 03, 2020

After many weeks of continuous postponement and cancellations across all streams of motorsport, today will go down as a 'good day' as the FIA and ACO offered out the first glimpses of hope with revised schedules for their World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and Le Mans Cup Series that will hopefully kick start racing back into life in Europe from mid July.

With their European Series originally due to have started their 2020 calendars this weekend from Barcelona and with the WEC last having seen action at the then revised but multi AMR podium visit to the Circuit of the America's back at the end of February, all has been quiet around the world as strict COVID-19 restrictions on people movements bit hard with the racing industry and caused (and is still causing) deep emotional trauma and despair in general life everywhere.

Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, todays announcement from the FIA and ACO at least give everyone hope and a target to aim for to see out the 2019-20 season in the WEC albeit at an immediate cost to their Hypercar, IMSA convergence plans and originally planned races closer to home in the UK.

Meetings in the UK continue to be locked down until at least the end of June.

Taking these announcements as the first green shoots of spring there are at least further 'good news' opportunities to be had as Grandstand Merchandise offer a "working from home" 20% discount across all their team apparel range - including that of Aston Martin Racing of course.

Now there is no reason not to brighten up your AMR wardrobe just in time for the resumption of WEC racing at Spa Francorchamps on August 15th.

Fingers crossed as all of the above is strictly subject to how society around the world continues to deal with this devastating pandemic!
