24H Series resumes in Portimao next weekend with two AMR GT4's

Saturday, June 06, 2020

We stand to be corrected but next weekends 24H Series event from Portimao, Portugal appears to be Europes first, post Covid-19 emerging race meeting ready to run since the virus induced moratorium on all sporting activities was imposed three months ago but at least we presently retain two Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 entries amongst its eighteen car entry.

With Portugal now free to receive international visitors without fear of any isolation imposed on them upon arrival and with hotels and restaurants now able to open their doors, all seems good for the Creventic Series to resume its 2020 season after its Dubai 24Hr opener back in mid January and its significant calendar adjustments in-between. The race will of course be run under strict Covid-19 social distancing rules.

Just like last years race, we have AMR Vantage GT4 entries from both Prosport Racing (racing last year as Prosport Performance) as well as Team Virage although the Spanish team is presently only listing two driver slots with team manager Julien Gerbi and long term customer Jon Aizpurua.

For Prosport, they see their driver pairing of Rodrique Gillion and Nico Verdonck return to them after a disastrous non event for them in Dubai when their then Newbridge Motorsport prepared Vantage GT4 failed to run anywhere beyond Free Practice. They will be supported by fellow Belgium racer Tom Heeren.

With all 24H Series event though, access to the circuit is never really needed as they of course live stream all track action from Friday's Qualifying session onwards.
