Another great British GT battle in store tomorrow from Donington Park

Saturday, May 28, 2022

An interesting battle between the two leading GT4 protagonists is certainly in store tomorrow as the British GT Championship has their first of two visits to the Donington Park circuit this season with a three-hour race this time around.

After today’s two Free Practice and combined Qualifying sessions now over sees little gap between the GT4 Championship leading #42 Stellar Motorsport Audi R8 GT4 of Sennan Fielding and Richard Williams and the #27 Newbridge Motorsport Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 of Matt Topham and Darren Turner going into tomorrow’s race.

Competing in different classes of course, the #42 secured two race wins (after protest) at the opening round of the season at Oulton Park whilst the #27 car came home first in GT4 at the end of the Silverstone 500 two weeks ago.

Also showing pace around the track after the announcement yesterday of their involvement in the AMR Drivers Academy, sees the #23 R-Racing AMR Vantage GT4 of Josh Miller and Jamie Day consolidate their earlier pace to put in some good laps times during Qualifying to finish just behind the #27 car in P3 for tomorrow’s grid.

Tomorrow will see the #27 car face up to the hardship of their overall class win last time out with a maximum twenty second additional pit stop time to be added to their final minimum timed stop whereas the #42 Audi only must serve just ten.

Might that allow the #23 R-Racing car to sneak through only time will tell.

Tomorrows timetable again sees another pit walk and autograph session after the morning warm up before the race starts at 12:40hrs local.
