Countdown to the 90th Edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans has begun

Tuesday, May 31, 2022

The 90th Edition of the great event is finally upon us but for the totally unprepared (like us), the 2022 24 hours of Le Mans seems to have sprung up upon us like an unannounced we don’t know despite the build-up having been ongoing down at the Circuit de La Sarthe for a number of weeks now.

The programme of events going into this weekend sees this Friday and Saturday reserved for the usual Scrutineering process back down at the Place De La Republique for the first time in two years, with the public again welcomed back into the town in time for the single day (two session) Official Test Day around the full 8.5-mile circuit on Sunday.

Following that on Monday, that gives the teams time to strip down and refettle their cars ready for the start of more formally timed track sessions which start on Wednesday after the customary pit lane walk and autograph session and (new for 2022) public track walk on Tuesday.

Five hours of track time are available to the teams on Wednesday (including the late-night session of Free Practice 2) before a further three hours on Thursday afternoon after which the Hyperpole session for the top half dozen of entries per class takes place on track to finally determine the sharp end of each class for the start of the race on Saturday.

Friday is again all about the team and fans as the crews rebuild their race cars again ahead of the start of the race with the open pit lane throughout the day and then the Drivers Parade in the town for those who wish to travel up from the circuit.

With a brief fifteen-minute warm up session in the morning in-between support races, things are finally left for the build-up towards the start of the race which will be waved off again at 16:00Hrs local.

It will be good again – and we ain’t half looking forward to going again especially with the suggestion of a livery change with one of the TF Sport prepared AMR Vantage GTE's!!
