D'Station Racing confirm their WEC/LM24 driver line up

Monday, January 22, 2024

Having revealed just the one driver at the time of their confirmation of acceptance into Season 12 of the World Endurance Championship back in late November last year, the Japanese based team today confirmed the remaining detail for the Aston Martin Racing Vantage LMGT3 entry this year.

As previously hinted at the end of last season, both Team Manager Tomonobu Fujii and team owner Satoshi Hoshino both take a step back from racing duties as Marco Sorensen will be joined by French drivers Erwan Bastard and Clement Mateu for the eight round 2024 season with the exception of the Le Mans 24hr in June.

Today’s press release confirmed that Bronze rated Hoshino will replace Mateu within the #777 car for the 92nd Edition of the event at the Circuit de La Sarthe in France.

With Fujii returning to managerial role within the team, today’s news was certainly nothing like what was expected as Erwan technically steps up another level from GT3 racing within the GT World Challenge Series and GT4 European Series with Audi to the brand new LMGT3 iteration of the new 2024 Vantage GT3 Evo having only tried out the 16A version of the car at the final round of the Ultimate Cup Series late last year.

Mateu comes from the ranks of Porsche Supercup ranks where he competed within the Pro-Am class but does also come with GT3 experience – his involvement with the D’Station Racing team does bring the Hexis trade name back into association with an AMR powered team.

Track action for the team is now not far away as the Prologue test (this time in Qatar) will take place in late February, ahead of the opening round in early March.
