And it’s a Happy New Year to you all!!

As we roll out of the first and into the second week of 2024, we have just a few more days to wait before the opening races of the new year take place in southern Europe.

Beating the American’s by just a few days sees the GT Winter Series hit the track first this year with private testing that precedes their opening round of their season next weekend at Estoril in southern Portugal.

Starting on Wednesday 10th with private testing, a mixed grid of GT3, GT4 and LMP3 cars are expected to take to the track for the first time ahead of the weekend’s opening double headers for the GT4 Winter Series three classes.

As previously published, the new Norfolk based Forsetti Motorsport Aston Martin Racing team will be in attendance for the whole GT4 Winter Series programme as they bring Ginetta Champion Mikey Porter up to speed within their (now) older iteration of the AMR Vantage GT4 alongside that of Jamie Day in the topflight Pro Class.

With a Provisional Entry list now published, their attendance within the expected fifteen strong GT4 entry for Estoril has now been enhanced by the recent confirmation that locally based Racar Motorsport will also be in attendance again this season with their #9 AMR Vantage GT4 with drivers Roberto Faria and Manuel Giao competing within the sub–Pro-Am Class.

After Wednesday’s private testing, two further test days run into the more formal events of Saturday and Sunday which will see two GT4 class Qualifying sessions and the first of three races on Saturday before wrapping up the opening round with another two thirty-minute-long races on Sunday.

As predicted, the Prosport Racing AMR GT4 contingent will be joining the series later into the new year but one thing to watch, TF Sport are again listed as testing on Wednesday and last time they had out their Le Mans winning AMR Vantage GTE. Wonder what and who they will have this time around??
