Just awaiting D'Stations second driver to be confirmed ahead of Super GTs visit to Fuji

Monday, July 29, 2024

There’s obviously still time, but there appears to be room at the inn still for the sole Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 entry for this weekend’s fourth round of the Japanese Super GT Series from Fuji Speedway.

Glancing down the provisional entry list for this event within the GT300 class, the #777 D’Station Racing entry still only has the name of Team Manager, Tomonobu Fujii as listed against their entry.

The opening round of the season had AMR factory driver Marco Sorenson as partnering the team’s return to their premier GT Series, but the last two rounds has seen the team revert to their former World Endurance Championship co-driver in Charlie Fagg to help establish a momentum within the series after a disappointing opener from Okayama.

Indeed, Fagg and Fujii made such an impact within the class last time out at Suzuka that the #777 crew claimed their first class win of the season for both themselves and their new 2024 Vantage GT3 platform as well as claiming Pole position and fastest race lap for maximum points.

This weekend’s 350km race will be a significant test for the multi tyre manufacturer shod grid within both classes with the #777 also getting a hefty 40kg success ballast applied to them for their win last time out too.

We just need to find out now, who will be driver number 2 and all will be well!

UPDATE

It seems to be like Charlie Fagg will again be behind the wheel of the #777 alongside Tomonobu Fujii.
