All a question of time

This afternoons news from Beechdean Motorsport regarding the swapping out of factory drivers within the team's European Le Mans Series entry just a week prior to the opening round at Silverstone is a massive disappointment not just for Jonny Adam but for all of us GT race fans.

Due to the unfortunate ability of the series organisers to clash the opening round of our national GT series with that of the UK round's of the european and world GT series has left the young Scot 'paying the price' due to his commitments within all three series.

Since speaking to Adam and TF Sport's team principle Tom Ferrier back in early February (see that post HERE) the question was always about the published timetable for each series and how the drivers could be helicopter transferred between stints and between Silverstone and Brands Hatch. That has only been confirmed within the last week or so so hence this late announcement.

Of course, part of that decision may will have also been a political one within the AMR family, as Jonny Adam partners Derek Johnston in the TF Sport prepared, British GT entered GT3 and having spoken with Johnston at the British GT Media Day he didn't appear to be fully aware that Adam was entered into the ELMS with Beechdean as well as the WEC with the factory team!

A quick look at next Saturday's itinerary above (with a small margin of error within the shown timing bands) shows the conflicts that Adam had and that Andrew Howard still has for him to actively participate in both events. Add to each at least a 30minute transfer window each way and the potential for either driver to miss a pre calculated driving slot is massive. With todays news it will only be Howard who will be at risk of missing his slot but he is the paying customer after all!!
