Beechdean AMR Look To Hit Back At Silverstone 500

Friday, June 10, 2016

Reigning British GT Championship squad Beechdean Aston Martin Racing (AMR) intend to hit back this weekend at what is considered to be their home race - the infamous Silverstone Grand Prix circuit - for the fourth round of the 2016 British GT Championship. Known as the ‘Silverstone 500’, this race will feature the series toughest test with a three hour endurance race.

Oulton Park two weeks ago was a difficult weekend for Beechdean AMR GT3 drivers Andrew Howard and Ross Gunn, when the pair rack up two pit stop infringement penalties. This coming weekend, a clean race will be the priority. The double championship winning Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3 will enter the three hour race without a success penalty, and therefore have a strong chance to challenge for a podium position.

“Silverstone is the home of British Motorsport and a highlight on the British GT calendar.” Stated double British GT Champion Howard. “Silverstone has been a good circuit in recent years for Beechdean AMR, so hopefully we can get some points.”

Nineteen year old Aston Martin Racing Factory Driver Gunn commented, “It’s a privilege to be racing the Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3 car at Silverstone GP, the home of British Motorsport and the BRDC. After a tough weekend at Oulton Park, Andrew, the team, and I are determined to fight back.”

Beechdean AMR’s Jack Bartholomew and Jordan Albert are in the Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 car. The junior drivers had a character building weekend two weeks ago at Oulton Park. Historically the Beechdean AMR GT4 car has been incredibly successful on the 3.66 mile circuit, winning last year’s Britcar 24 hour race and British GT Silverstone 500.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend as I feel it’s the first round where the Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 can show its strengths.” Commented Brighton based racer Bartholomew. “The three hour race format will certainly be interesting and will be a good learning experience for both of us.”

Team mate and local boy Albert said, “I’m pumped up for Silverstone this weekend as it’s my home race and also Beechdean and Aston Martin Racing’s. It is also a track that should suit the Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4, so I hope we will be able to challenge for a podium.”
